50 cent BiographyBorn in South Jamaica, Queens, 50 Cent has lived in New York City all his life. 50 Cent lost his mother when he was barely eight years old. Thereafter, he was raised by his grandparents. As a child, he wanted to be a heavyweight boxer, but eventually fell back on rapping. DJs had taken it upon themselves to release two Best of 50 Cent mix CDs, before he had even signed to a major label.50 Cent entered the industry with "How To Rob An Industry Nigga" and he's been on a rampage ever since dealing with bootleggers, label back stabbing and other platinum selling artists trying to get at him physically. In 1999 his album Power of the Dollar, was heavily bootlegged and Trackmasters/Columbia never released it. Three days before filming the video for "Thug Love," (with Destiny's Child) -- his first single, he was shot in the street. 50's big break arrived when Eminem and Dr. Dre called him up, flew him out to LA and signed him in a joint venture to Em's Shady Records and Dre's Aftermath label. While 50 worked on his major-label debut, he released yet another bootleg of borrowed beats called No Mercy, No Fear. The single, "Wanksta," was not intended for radio; however, the song got leaked and became an instant hit, eventually landing on the soundtrack to 8 Mile. In February of 2003, 50 released Get Rich or Die Tryin'. The album went straight to number one and sold 1.5 million copies in its first week and half of release, the highest ever paid for a debut. From then to now, there's no looking back for the rapper. 50 Cent's survival instinct!50 was shot nine times in a night, two shots hitting him in the head. He barely survived that incident, all because of his will to live through it. He still carries the bullet that struck his face as a reminder of what happened.And he still roams around the street fearlessly. a real life hero , is that it? |

50 Cent released a series of street mixtapes in 2002. These mixtapes became so popular that Eminem heard them and became determined to sign 50 to his record label. Even after his success, 50 still releases street mixtapes on a regular basis. Here is a man who does not forgets his roots!

50 Cent is one man who is not afraid to face any challenge. Infact, his life till now has been a testimony of a troubled past. But the man with the iron refuases to budge. He once said "When I have conversations with people, for some strange reason they think I'm gonna die and they're not. But you know what? Death means nothing to me. 
50 Cent and The Game each presented checks totaling $200,000 to help the Compton Unified School District and its ailing arts and music program, which has been dormant for several years. (April 9, 2005). This proves that this gentleman is truly dedicated to the cause of art.
