Adam Sandler BiographyAdam Sandler was born in Brooklyn, NY in 1966 but raised in Manchester, NH and attended Central High School. A natural clown, Adam Sandler had no intentions of becoming a comedian. At 17, he took his first step toward becoming a stand-up comedian when his brother encouraged him to spontaneously take the stage at a Boston comedy club. The then seventeen-year-old Sandler performed surprisingly well. Sandler attended New York University where he graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 1991. By performing regularly in clubs and at universities; during his freshman year, he bagged a recurring role as The Huxtable's friend Smitty on "The Cosby Show" (1984). While working at a comedy club in L.A, he was "discovered" by Dennis Miller. Dennis caught Adam performing an act at the club one night and recommended him to "Saturday Night Live" (1975) producer, Lorne Michaels and told him that Adam had a big talent. From 1990 to 1995 Sandler entertained audiences with such characters like Cajun Man, Opera Man and Canteen Boy. In 1993, Sandler released They're All Gonna Laugh at You!, his first step outside of TV that sold record amounts and was even nominated for a Grammy. 1993 also brought him back to films. Having the year before appeared briefly, along with Robin Williams, in Bobcat Goldthwait's grim comedy Shakes The Clown, now came Coneheads. Sandler received his first lead role in the movie Billy Madison (1995). With his never-ending wit, films continued to come his way. Some of the highlight films in his career include Happy Gilmore (1996), The Wedding Singer (1998, opposite Drew Barrymore), The Water Boy (1998), Big Daddy (1999) and Little Nicky (2000). Sandler costarred with Winona Ryder in Mr. Deeds (2002) and with Emily Watson in Punch-Drunk Love (2002). In 2003 Sandler starred with film legend Jack Nicholson in the popular comedy Anger Management and then in 2004 was reunited with Drew Barrymore for the romantic comedy 50 First Dates. A comedian first, singer second, Sandler is also a producer. He started his own production company, Happy Madison, as well as the animation company, Meatball.Adam's Production CompanyAdam Sandler started Happy Madison Productions, which is behind most of his films.
