Antonio Banderas Biography
Antonio Banderas was christened as Jose Antonio Dominguez Banderas. He was born on August 10, 1960 in Malaga, Spain. Historically, it was the time of the rule of the fascist and tyrannical leader General Franco, who was a mercenary ruler and a black spot in the history of Spain. His dad's first name was also Jose, he was also named Antonio after his maternal uncle who a vey attached to his mother. His brother, Francisco Javier, who is famous as Chico, was born one and a half year after him.
Right from his childhood, Antonia had a lot of interest in theatre. He enrolled in drama classes, even though his parents did not wanted him to be. With this success, he stared his own group of artists. This group did not perform at any one place but roamed all over the Spain and acted in every nook and corner one can imagine. In 1981, he changed his place of work to Madrid and and very soon, he was a part of the National Theater of Spain.There, he did the work of a steward and undertook some modeling assignments in order to sustain himself.
He came in contact with Pedro almod yar, a film maker and they both decided to join their forces to do the 1988 hit “Women on the verge of a nervous Breakdown” . This movie gave him the fame he required in order to succeed. Antonio Banderas was casted in “ The Mambo Kings” but English was an alien language to him. Banderas did not lose heart and decided to learn English by taking intensive lessons.
His next ventures gave him a lot of appreciation such as “The House of the Spirits” (1993), “Interview With the Vampire” (1994), “Desperado” (1995), and “Assassins” (1995).Antonio was attracted towards the Hollywood actress Melanie Griffith around 1990 when he saw her wearing a white dress and a string of pearls at the Oscars. Six years later, after starring together in Two Much, the pair – then both still married, he to Ana, she to Don Johnson – developed feelings for each other. In 1995 Antonio worked in the film“Two Much” opposite Melanie Griffith and surprised every one when they married in May of 1996. They were blessed with the birth of their first child, Stella del Carmen a few months later. In 1999 Banderas tried his hand at directing, with Crazy in Alabama. The critics were gentle although not very enthusiastic: everybody liked Melanie Griffiths as an aspiring starlet who carries her murdered husband's head.around in the car boot.
Hooked on Haunted House!
Antonio Banderas and Melanie Griffith recently applied to buy New York's notorious Dakota building. Fortunately (or unfortunately) the application was turned down by residents who said they don't want another John Lennon incident. Ex Beetle Lennon lived in the same Manhattan residence for years before he was murdered at its entrance on December 8, 1980.
