John Travolta BiographySon of Helen and Salvatore Travolta, born in Englewood, New Jersey, John Travolta one of the six children in the family. His father was the owner of a tire repair shop, and mother a stage performer. As a child John appeared in a neighboring production of "Who'll Save the Plowboy?" Considering the natural acting skills of young John, his mother admitted him in a drama school in the New York City. This school became a major force in polishing the young actor's voice, dancing, and singing. Later on all the three skills were combined by Travolta in order to become a comedy performer. John quit schooling at the age of 16 when his first exclusive job in a summer stock production of the musical "Bye Bye Birdie" landed in his account. At this juncture Travolta moved to New York and later to Hollywood. Here the actor waited for the major break and by the time proved his potential in otherwise minor roles. John got his first Broadway role at the age of 18, with a screening in the New York production of Grease.After working for several months with Broadway, John decided to once again try his luck in Hollywood. And this time even luck favored him, and he easily got roles in a number of TV shows. After doing "Devil's Rain".
