Johnny Depp BiographyBorn John Christopher Depp in Owensboro Kentucky, he was raised in Florida and dropped out of school at age 15 in hopes of becoming a rock star, only to see his band split. He then threw himself into serious acting but his credibility got a jolt when he was accidentally branded a teen pin-up. He made his film debut with “Nightmare on Elm Street” in 1984 and then starred in the wretched teen sex comedy “Private Resort”. He shot to fame in 1987 with the role of undercover cop Tommy Hanson in the popular TV series “21 Jump Street”. In 1990 he bagged the coveted title role in Edward Scissorhands and the film’s success made him one of the most adventurous and bohemian actors of his generation. He continued to gain popularity and critical acclaim by appearing in box office hits like “Donnie Brasco” (1997), “Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas” (1998), sci-fi horror “The Astronaut’s Wife” (1999) and “Sleepy Hollow” (1999). The winning streak continued with hit films like “From Hell” (2001), “Once Upon a Time in Mexico” (2003) and marvelous action adventure “Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl (2003) playing the character of Captain Jack Sparrow. Depp has also been linked to several female celebrities for his off-screen romances and failed relationships with Jennifer Grey, Winona Ryder and Kate Moss.
