Mr. T BiographyMr. T was born as Laurence Tureaud on 21 May 1952 in the countryside of Chicago. He is the second to youngest of twelve children (he has four sisters and seven brothers).His childhood was not easy and there were financial constraints in the family. His mother raised the family on $87 a month welfare in a three-room apartment.Mr. T was supported by his brothers in building his bod. This was done not with any bright dreams but because of need of survival in the rough neighbourhood. He has commented on his brothers "If you think I'm big, you should see my brothers!" His mother is a religious woman,who has been a strong role model for Mr. T. He says, "Any man who don't love his momma can't be no friend of mine." . in studies, he was neither good, nor bad."Most of the time", he says, "I stared out the windows, just daydreaming. I didn't study much because I have a photographic memory".He was not a spoilt brat as a child and did not disorey his mother. He went to Dunbar Vocational High School. He was a football star, studied martial arts, and was three times city wrestling champion! In 1975 he worked for sometime on the Chicago educational scheme as a gym trainer. In 1978 he decided to rebaptised in the Cosmopolitan Community Church in Chicago.In 1982, Mr. T was 'spotted' by Sylvester Stallone; he was on the TV show "Games People Play," taking part in "The World's Toughest Bouncer" contest -- tossing two stuntmen with ease! His role in "Rocky III" was originally intended as just a few lines, but Stallone built up the part around the man. Mr. T also appeared in another boxing film, "Penitentiary 2," and in a cable TV special, "Bizarre," before accepting the role of BA in "The A-Team." That gold jewelry which he used to wore but has discarded after he was diagnosed with cancer was worth around $300,000.That was one of the most interesting fact ab out him in his salad days. He is reported to earn around $80,000 a week for his role in the A-Team. Mr T's ancestors were black and were kept as slaves. In order to understand the torture they underwent, Mr. T sometimes used to sleep with his jewels which were similar to the chains and clogs which slaves were forced to wear, He says he wears them "to see how my ancestors,who were slaves, felt." He gives much the same response if asked if it is heavy--nobody ever asked those enslaved ancestors if THEIR chains are heavy! He has a point. He makes little effort, he claims, to keep his body in shape, and is a confirmed junk food addict-- triple-decker hamburgers have been mentioned! He is very active in community work, and is often to be found in MacLaren Hall, Los Angeles, a shelter for abused children as he says, "There's no telling how many lives you can turn around." He wants to set up a good image in front of kids and never drinks, smokes or takes drugs of any kind. He refuses to take any acting role that casts him as 'bad', and isn't keen on doing what he refers to as 'mushy scenes.' "My style," he says, "is always a hungry fighter." In the break between seasons of The A-Team, Mr. T has been making a low-budget comedy movie, "DC Cab," which also stars Gary Busey and Musical Youth. In it, he plays a taxi driver who protects kids from hoods. Also in the works is "Rev T," in which he plays a garbage collector who lauches a neighborhood compaign against drugs and crime. Mr. T MerchandiseMr. T has had life sized toys made on him but the full range of Mr. T merchandise doesn't stop there. Mr. T had his own breakfast cereal. He put out a children's album called "Mr. T's Commandments", plus he had his own brand of gold chain bubble gum, Shrinky Dinks and even Mr. T air fresheners! |

Hulk Hogan wrote in his autobiography that Mr. T almost ruined the main event of the first Wrestlemania, because when he arrived, security would not let his entourage into the building. Mr. T was ready to skip the show until Hogan personally talked him out of leaving

While a homeowner in Lake Forest, Illinois, he cleared 100 acres of trees located on his property, igniting a feud with neighbors and town officials. Because of his actions, landowners of the town are prohibited from cutting down trees, even on their own property, without a permit.Now, that's a good result of a bad act. 
Mr. T is suffering from cancer for the last 10 years. Earlier, he used to wear a lot of gold but now he has left that habbit."I don't wear gold no more. The gold is in my heart... The gold couldn't save me." says the man.
