Oliver MartinezAlthough he's been making movies in France for over more than 10 years, Olivier Martinez is best known to American audiences for playing the sexy, French book dealer who seduced Diane Lane in Adrien Lyne's "Unfaithful" (2002). He was looking so handsome and acting so brilliantly that even Gare (the unlucky husband in the film) had to admit that Martinez was a better bet and any woman would fall for him.Born to a working class family, and raised in the suburbs of Paris, Martinez initially had no mind to enter Hollywood. He did various odd jobs including a stint as a boxer, fighing professionally as a welterweight in Europe. He made his motion picture debut in 1992's "Jean Jacques Beineix's IP5: "L'île aux pachydermes" (1992). In 1994, he received the Cesar Award for Most Promising Young Actor for his work in Bertrand Blier's drama "1, 2, 3 Sun." Martinez first gained international attention for his performance in 1995's "Horseman on the Roof." His credits also include 1997's "The Chambermaid on the Titanic," Julian Schnabel's critically acclaimed 2000's "Before Night Falls." The Love Of His LifeMartinez loves his new home, whether it's walking on the beach with his Rhodesian ridgeback, Sheba, or tooling around Hollywood on his motorcycle. (His favorite item of clothing, till they "literally turned to dust" recently, were his Levi's jeans.) |
