Orlando Bloom Biography
Born on January 13, 1977, in Canterbury, Kent, England, Bloom's campaign of becoming an actor took shape early in his life. This happened when he came across the idea that the performers on movies and in TV serials are not born actors but mere human beings, like any of us. Harry Bloom, his father was a legendary political activist who fought for civil rights in South Africa. Harry died when Orlando was just four years old. After that, their mother, Sonia, and family friend, Colin Stone took good care of Orlando and his older sister, Samantha. Later Sonia revealed to him that Colin was actually his biological father.
He did his schooling from St. Edmunds School in Canterbury and has to face up's and downs in many courses because of dyslexia. He love doing photography and sculpturing. Being active at local theater, he exhibited his interest in school plays. In his teens, he marked his first job as a clay trapper at a pigeon shooting range. Being optimist in nature, he and his sister began studying poetry and prose. At times they even give lessons at Kent Festival. Soon, Orlando demonstrated his bent towards sincere acting. At the age of 16, in order to rise in his life, he joined the National Youth Theatre, in London, spending two seasons there. He even got a scholarship to train with the British American Drama Academy. To begin his career, he gave auditions for various TV serials. In British television shows "Casualty" (1986), "Midsomer Murders" (1997) and "Smack the Pony" (1999), his talent can be seen in bits and pieces. He also outshined his personality in the critically acclaimed movie Wilde (1997).Then he became the part of the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.
In 1998, Orlando met a major accident, when he fell from a rooftop terrace, three stories above and broke his back. Despite constant fears of being permanently paralyzed, he soon occupied his position on the stage. As luck favored him, out of blue in 1999, a director named 'Peter Jackson' approached him and offered him a role in his new set of movies. After completing his graduation from Guildhall, Orlando began work on the "Lord of the Rings" trilogy, spending 18 months in New Zealand. At present, he is one of the busiest and desired actors in the industry.
