Tom Hanks Biography

Born in Concord, California though not brought up, Thomas J. Hanks spent a major part of his childhood in roving around withhis father, a nomadic cook. Basically he spent his entire child hood you can say in "coping up" with things. Be it his schools or religions and even step moms. Hanks quotes that by the time he reached the age of 10, he already had "three mothers, five grammar schools and 10 houses". He still feels disgusted when media calls his bringing up as from a broken family, because he opines that he and his family are still a close knit unit. The seed of acting took roots while in Oakland he began performing in high school plays. He continued with his acting while attending Cal State, Sacramento, and dropped out at age 20 to continue with acting.

The actor actually began his acting career from the silver screen, after starring in TV show, Bosom Buddies. After this entry there was no looking back for this gifted actor. Tom Hanks appeared in the hit feature movie, The Splash in 1984. Following it in 1989, came "Big", where he played of a little boy in a man's body. This movie won him great laurels and Tom Hanksbagged the Golden Globe Award, the Los Angeles Film Critics Award and grabbed his first Oscar nomination for the same role. Then came in 1994, Hank's hard to miss performance in Robert Zemecki directed "Forrest Gump". A year prior to this, Tom Hanks gave a heart rendering performance in the character of an AIDS-stricken lawyer Andrew Beckett in Jonathan Demme's "Philadelphia." Next came Steven Spielberg's epic drama, "Saving Private Ryan", Hanks performance in the movie made his fans go mad for the man. It is not only drama that tom hanks excelled at, with "Sleepless in Seattle," directed by Nora Ephron, and "You've Got Mail", the actor successfully displayed his great comic timing.

Hanks also featured in episodic series "From the Earth to the Moon", which bagged 17 Emmy nominations along with this the movie was also named the year's Best Miniseries by both the TV Academy and the H.F.P.A. Came 1996, and actor tom Hanks made his victorious feature film writing and directing debut with the evocative melodic comedy "That Thing You Do!" all along this tom tried his hand at directing episodes of the admired HBO compilation "Tales from the Crypt", and the segment entitled "I'll Be Waiting" for Showtime's "Fallen Angels" series. But, though Tom's career was on the up and up, his marriage was falling apart. Not wanting his kids to suffer as he had done, he took a break from film-making in 1985 to produce, direct AND build sets for a production of The Passing Game at the Gene Dynarski Theatre, with his wife Samantha co-producing and starring. It didn't work. By the end of the year, Tom and Samantha were separated. But despite tasting bitterness in his married life the actor didn't fail and continued to give hits after hits. Some of the other worth mentioning films of the actor includes "Bachelor Party," "A League of Their Own," "Punchline," "Nothing in Common" and "The Money Pit". Hanks also created the voice of cowboy Woody in the Disney animated films "Toy Story" and "Toy Story 2."

Whatever spoken in praise of the actor will be the least, so better keep mum, ………and wait……………'Coz the BEST of TOM HANKS is yet to come!!!

Tom's Fave in The Ladykillers.

In this movie tom loved his scenes with veteran actress Irma P. Hall. He found her amazing. He said "She was impervious, a dear, sweet lady who works hard and does her job - and does it beautifully".
