Presently Tom is happily married to actress Rita Wilson since April 30, 1988, the actor married his first wife Samantha Lewes ,in 1980;this was two months after their son, Colin, was born.
In this movie tom loved his scenes with veteran actress Irma P. Hall. He found her amazing. He said "She was impervious, a dear, sweet lady who works hard and does her job - and does it beautifully". Further the actor adds "I love the way she just keeps talking and barely takes a breath - not letting him get a word in edge-wise. That stuff's priceless". 
Tom Hanks addressed Vassar College graduates that one four- letter word seizes the answer to the majority of life's tribulations. And the word is "HELP". The actor said "Help and you will make a huge impact in the life of the street, the town, the country and our planet".
