Aaliyah BiographyAaliyah was born on January 16,1979 in Bedford Stuyvesant, Brooklyn, New York. Aaliyah's uncle Barry Hankerson is the man behind Aliyah’s success. Aaliyah got the attention of the world when she was fifteen. Her first single Back and Forth made its place on the top on the hot 100 singles chart. Very soon her album came out under Jive records which grabbed the top five positions. This showed the flexible octave range of Aaliyah. Her version of "At Your Best (You Are Love)" teared apart the radio waves with chaotic and sumptuous music. "Down With The Clique" followed after that. It created media frenzy because it was provocative. By the 1996 came Aaliyah was preparing for her next release “One in a Million”. She was really excited about her this album. “One in a Million” proved to be a significant material to establish the fact that Aaliyah is singer who is quite mature and full of strength. It changed the music industry’s concept entirely about Aaliyah. Along with this maturity, Aaliyah carried the once underground hit-makers Missy/Timbaland to new heights. This reverberation they would concoct on “One In A Million”, would take the music industry by storm. Hit after heart-beating hit would follow, ultimately reaching the #1 spot on the hot 100 singles chart with her 1st sophomore single, the sexy, seductive, and taunt, "If Your girl Only Knew" and the other singles radio weighty as well. The syndicated TV show Extra is planning to air amateur video footage tonight (Monday) of Aaliyah, performing aboard a yacht in the Bahamas for a music video just hours before her death in a plane crash on Aug. 25.
