Ashley Judd Biography
Actress Ashley Judd was born on 19 April 1968 to the parents Naomi Judd (Mother), a western singer and a marketer Michael Ciminella (Father). The Judd family did not always have an easy life; they grew up dirt poor in Kentucky while mother Naomi and daughter were struggling to make it as singers. They moved around the State often, never remaining in the same home for long. The family met their necessities by growing their own vegetables and making their own soap. They seldom had any running water or electricity. However, when mom and sis finally got their break, it opened up whole new doors for young Ashley. So Ashley Judd began life on the move. The trivial fact regarding her education is that she attended 12 schools in 13 years. She went on to major in French at the University of Kentucky, from which she graduated in 1990. After graduation, Ashley, on her singer sister's advice, she moved to Los Angeles at age of 23, where her striking self confidence immediately got her an agency contract. She bagged a part in a movie Kuffs (1992) at her first audition. Judd received a New York Film Critics' Circle award for Best Actress and a Sundance Film Festival Independent Spirit award for her title role in "Ruby in Paradise (1993: )". She accepted recurring roles in the quality television shows Star Trek: The Next Generation (episodes 102 and 106, 1991), and Sisters (1991), and a part in the TV movie 'Til Death Do Us Part' (1992). Judd's movie Natural Born Killers (1994) was cut for being "too intense" for a general audience. The only reason for the intensity of the scenes was Judd being shown as the only character left alive in the film. More quality films followed were Smoke (1995), Heat (1995), The Passion of Darkly Noon (1995), A Time To Kill (1996), and Normal Life (1996). Her portrayal of Marilyn Monroe in TV's Norma Jean and Marilyn won her both an Emmy nomination and a Golden Globe nomination. Judd established her star status with her performance in the subsequent films, Kiss the Girls (1997), The Locusts (1997), Simon Birch (1998), Double Jeopardy (1999), and Eye of the Beholder (2000). Her two biggest roles to date have been in the crime thrillers Kiss The Girls and Double Jeopardy.
Judd’s Ethical Approach
Ashley Judd turned down a larger role in Kuffs (1992) because she was asked to do nude scenes. She responded, "My mother worked too hard for me to take my clothes off in my first movie”—a lady with ethical scruples
