Carmen Electra BiographyCarmen is a celebrity performer, singer, and dancer. She was born on April 20, 1972 in Cincinnati, Ohio. Carmen was born Tara Leigh Patrick but later changed her name when the artist formerly known as “Prince” told her that she looked like a carmen, after she signed with his record company. She also changed her last name and it means a Greek goddess.Carmen’s talents were evident even when she was a child. She entered in and won her first dance contest at the age of five. She went on to be in over 100 tap and ballet contests. At the age of nine she was selected for the School of Creative and Performing Arts. While studying there, she began taking singing lessons and by the time she was a teenager, Carmen was performing in musicals( as a dancer) and doing her own choreographies for the school’s theatre. By the time she was fifteen, Carmen moved to Minneapolis to stay with her sisters and began modeling for the Target department stores. Four years later, she moved to L.A. Soon after her arrival in L.A., she met the celebrity star performer known as Prince. Carmen auditioned for Prince and , in 1992, was signed by him for his Paisley Park Records Label. It was on a suggestion made by Prince that she changed her name to Carmen Electra. Unfortunately, despite all of Prince's efforts in helping Carmen by promoting her and her new album, her music career failed miserably. Her single Go-Go Dancer flopped miserably when it was released. Three years later, Carmen had renewed her image and appeared on the Nickelodeon show, All That. She also posed for Playboy and did a video for them, entitled Playboy Cheerleaders, and Carmen shows off her "musical" talents by singing "2-4-6-8". A couple of months later, Lisa Berger, MTV's vice president, announced that Carmen was chosen to be Jenny McCarthy's replacement on the show Singled Out. Carmen's popularity was not that of Jenny's and the show died out quickly. Another disapointment for Carmen. Considering she was very voluptuous and beautiful, Baywatch came knocking on her door. She was asked to replace Pamela Anderson and she did a great job. In recent times, Carmen has been in-and-out of the papers as they document her crazy relationship with Dennis Rodman. The two were married in a quickie marriage in Las Vegas while he was drunk. Carmen is constantly on the tabloid pages, mostly for her on again-off again marriage. The Bellydancer!Carmen Electra got a chance to show off her bellydancing skills when she jetted into Morocco this week. Carmen Electra had started participating in dance competitions from the age of five and has been a performer all through her life. Given her background in dancing, it can easily be assumed that it must have been a treat for the eyes to watch her dance.(Dec 16, 2004) |
