Cindy Crawford BiographyAn Illinois native, Cindy Crawford was born as Cynthia Ann Crawford. Born on February 20, 1966 to divorced couple John Crawford and Jennifer Crawford, Cindy Crawford had one brother, Jeffery Crawford, who died of Leukemia when Cindy was just 10 years old. As an adult pretty Cindy stands 5' 9" inches tall with the measurements of 34B-24-35 and was once married to Richard Gere (married December 1991). Under high pressure of rumors questioning Crawford's sexuality and in spite of being named the Sexiest Couple Alive by People Magazine, the couple filed for divorce in 1995. Commenting on the bisexual rumors and their sexual life, Cindy and Richard had stated, " We are heterosexual and monogamous and take our commitment to each other very seriously." After alleged relationships with several celebrity figures, Cindy later married former Ford model, restaurant and nightclub business owner Rande Gerber on May 29, 1998. The couple had their first child, Presley Walker Gerber, then two years later their daughter Kaia. At present, she is busy experiencing life as a mother and experimenting new things to make her kids happy. The former high school valedictorian got the same good grades in college as in high school, but she didn't stick around long enough to see where a degree in engineering would have taken her. She went ahead to pursue a full-time modelling career. After working for photographer Victor Skrebneski in Chicago and becoming a success, Cindy packed her bags and flew away to New York City in 1986. As expected, it didn't take long for Cindy to establish herself as a model. After two years, she was walking down the ramp for the biggest fashion designers and appeared as thecover girl in various fashion magazines. She had become one of the first to enter the elite group of original supermodels.
In 1988, Cindy made more history as the first modern supermodel to appear in Hugh Hefner's magazine. Her Playboy spread not only impressed men young and old worldwide, but it lead to her 6-year stunt as host for MTV's House of Style. Even though she was criticized for her dare bare act, she refused to give in and argued vehemently but logically to one and all.
Cindy launched a series of swimsuit calendars and fitness videos, which were both tremendously successful. There after, she meticulously planned and invested in Planet Hollywood which was a success. With contracts for Pepsi, Kay Jewelers, and most notably Revlon , there was no looking back for Cindy. Named the planet's highest paid model by Forbes magazine in 1995, Cindy revealed the formula of her beautiful looks with her book Cindy Crawford's Basic Face: A Makeup Workbook.
Though her film Fair Game (1995)could not be a success at the box office, Cindy kept working and went on to do documentaries like Unzipped (1995), Catwalk (1995), and Beautopia (1998) as well as doing cameos for films such as The Secret of My Success (1987) and Sesame Street: Elmopalooza. Cindy Crawford lives in New York City, in the same apartment where Hollywood personalities such as Winona Ryder also lives. At present, she is busy experiencing life as a mother and experimenting new things to make her kids happy.
