Dido Biography

Dido was born on 25^th December, 1971 in London, England. Her unusual name resembles with the African warrior queen. She grew up without the luxury of television. But, Dido still found a form of entertainment. Her brother Rollo is associated with the British popular band Faithless. Dido learned to play the recorder (a kind of flute), that allows her to get admission in the prestigious Guildhall School of Music in London, when she was just 6 years old. She then moved on to different instrument like piano, violin. Till now, she was only a good instrument player but later she develops her interest in singing also. She became so impressed by the jazz singer Ella Fitzgerald when she was just 16. She decided to sing and perform with several bands. Her brother was not really impressed by her voice but she still continues her effort. She kept herself busy by working with publishing house and attending law school. She used to sing at different London venues at night.

 
And the fact is her brother, who was a great critics of her voice later encouraged her for music career. Dido appeared on the debut album of Faithless' in 1996. The album sold 5 million copies. Dido's work with Faithless helped propel her career, and she toured with her brother's group for the next 2 years, giving her even more musical experience.

Dido's debut album, No Angel, was produced by Dido with the help of other contributors and was released in mid-1999. The album produced the hits like “Here with Me" and "Thank You". The talented songwriter also appears on Faithless' 1999 album. Dido has established herself as popular singer in England and earned lots of fan image. She got great help from the rapper Eminem who really helps her to increase her popularity in the United States.
Dido was once Billboard's "Heetseekers List," but No Angel has already spent more than 60 weeks on its album charts and has been certified 4X platinum.
