Gwen Stefani BiographyGwendolyn Renee Stefani was born on 3rd October 1969 in Anaheim, California, USA. She was one of four children born to Dennis and Patti Stefani. Her siblings are Eric, Jill and Todd. Gwen Stefani, nicknamed Sunshine and G-loc, was a member of the swimming team in high school. After graduation, Gwen (who is also dyslexic) continued her education by attending Cal State Fullerton College. Gwen's brother Eric started the band No Doubt with his friend John Spence in 1987 and asked the always effervescent Gwen to join in as co-vocalist with Spence. Tony Kanal joined the group a little later, and the trio began to gain popularity by playing at local parties. After the band's original front man, John Spence, committed suicide in December 1987, Gwen subsequently became the leader of the band. With other members (Tony Kanal on bass, Tom Dumont on guitar and Adrian Young on drums), Gwen survived by performing at local parties and small clubs for several years. In 1992, the band released their self-titled debut, but despite the substantial following the band had garnered, the album was far from a commercial success. Refusing to give in, even though her brother Eric left, Gwen and the other band members put up money of their own in 1995 to record a sophomore album called The Beacon Street Collection. Stefani kept up the hard work, and soon she and the band had Interscope's full attention again, and were working on another album, Tragic Kingdom. Tragic Kingdom broke through the charts with its debut single "Just A Girl," with the help of the punk-tinged catchy lyrics and an accompanying colorful video. The album went on to become a Billboard No. 1, and garnered two Grammy nominations for the group. She married English rocker Gavin Rossdale on 14 September 2002 in London.Personal quotes"I think everyone has gifts and everyone has talents.
