Janet Jackson BiographyJanet Damita Jo Jackson was born in a lower class home on May 16, 1966 in Gary, Indiana, with several brothers and sisters. Janet was the youngest in a family of nine children. While she is at home with her sisters, her brothers, and dad, Joe Jackson, lived a profligate life in Los Angeles and formed a band named Jackson 5.She joined her brothers and signed a deal with Motown. Janet was in the gloom but later was she made a name for herself.In the process, she co-starred with her brothers and the rest of the family, in "The Jacksons". She played the part of Penny Gordon on "Good Times" in1977, which proved her bent towards acting. After making handful of cherished appearances on the hit TV show "Diff'rent Strokes" as Charlene Dupree, she outshined her personality in her role on "Fame". It is only after a few months of marriage with her boyfriend, James Debarge that the couple parted legally. The actress then signed a deal with A&M Records, and recorded "Janet Jackson", her first solo album. The album proved to be a failure. Two years later she recorded "Dream Street" which turned out to be another disaster. But a year later her third album called "Control" marked his stardom. She signed on Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis to record this album. It sold 5 million copies in the U.S. alone, produced six hits, and the #1 "When I Think of You". Janet's resolution to maintain and even expand her personality was in the process. She is sure that this would happen again. Her determination showed its true colors. Her recorded release "Rhythm Nation 1814" sold 9 million copies in the U.S. - a bigger hit than"Control"! Then again a love twist came in her life and she fall in love with a dancer named René Elizondo, Jr. and later secretly married him in March of 1991. In the same year she is labeled as a star in the Hollywood walk of fame! Her biggest hit was her fifth album simply called "Janet" as it sold over 10 million copies in the U.S. alone and includes her biggest hit single to date, "That's The Way Love Goes". Two years later, what earned her name is her released album of Greatest Hits "Design of a Decade" which included two new hits "Runaway", and "Twenty-Foreplay". Her seventh album "The Velvet Rope" shed light on her pop culture status. In the haze of the release of The Velvet Rope, she divorced Rene Elizendo, with whom she was married secretly for the past eight years. Janet then recorded her eighth album "All For You", that was again a hit. She was honored as an MTV Icon by the MTV. In 2004, Janet went to work on her next album "Damita Jo" - it was another hit. RecordsShe is voted as one of "The 10 Sexiest Women of 2001" by the readers of Black Men Magazine. The last five of her eight albums (excluding her first two albums "Janet Jackson," "Dream Street" and her greatest hits album "Design of a Decade: 1986 -1996") have all hit #1. |

Janet Jackson has been hit with a lawsuit by a woman who claims the pop beauty is harassing her in the hopes of landing a lesbian affair. Angela Whitterson, author of the novel IN CONTROL - LIKE JANET, has filed a stalking order against the NASTY singer, claiming the star has bugged her home and car in relentless pursuit.
