Jennifer always wanted to be superstar of all the talents. Jennifer's parents Guadalupe Rodriguez and David Lopez were both born in Ponce, Puerto Rico. This is the second largest city. Jennifer liked variety of musical fields as a child. She was mainly fond of Afro-Caribbean rhythms like salsa, meringue and bachata, and mainstream music like Pop, Hip hop and R&B. she loved music so much but still she cannot restrain herself from the glamour of film industry. Jennifer started taking singing and dancing lessons at the tender age of five. Jennifer did her schooling at all- girl’s catholic high school named Holy Family. She finished her graduation from Preston High School. Jennifer was a remarkable athlete and participated in many tracks and tennis at the school level. Jennifer moved out of her parent’s house at the tender age of eighteen. She worked in a law firm and also did dancing jobs at night. She got her first major film Gregory Nava's My Family (1995) and from there her career went into top gear where she portrayed slain Tejana singer Selena Quintanilla Perez in 1997's Selena (1997). The movie “Selena” marked a new world for her not in the terms of professionalism but as a life. Then boyfriend Ojani Noa proposed her on the dance floor in the wrap party of the movie in San Antonio. The couple married in early 1997. But it did not last long they got divorced within a year.
