Lucy LiuLucy Liu was born on December 2nd, 1967 to parents who had emigrated to USA from mainland China. When Liu was young, her focus was on acquiring a good education and as such finished her high school, in 1986, from Stuyvesant H.S. and then went on to graduate from the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor with a degree in Asian languages and cultures. Lucy is a really muli-faceted personality; she has studied acting, dance, and voice, practices martial arts, plays accordion and has also delved into the field of photography.While still in the senior year of college, Liu auditioned for a small part in a production of Alice In Wonderland and walked away with the lead role. This was an encouraging experience and a turning point in her life and one that made her take the plunge into professional acting. Her acting career really took off when she was cast as Ling Woo on Fox’s hit series Ally Mcbeal in 1998. Lucy Liu lit up the big screen in such movies as Payback (1999), Shanghai Noon (2000), Charlie's Angels (2000), Ballistic: Ecks vs. Sever (2002), Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle (2003), and Quentin Tarantino's 2003 Kill Bill: Vol. 1. A Touching Experience!Charlie’s Angeles star Lucy Liu was so moved by her experiences as UNICEF’s latest celebrity ambassador that when she came back from her mission to Africa, she decided to be a positive force in the lives of two of the children she met during her stay. Lucy Liu and her playwright boyfriend Zach Helm are quietly planning a wedding, but don't expect it to be a big Hollywood affair. They are only planning to invite some family members and a few close friends to their big event. No date has been set for the wedding as of yet. (4/24/2004)
