Nina not desperate for child

"It seems to not be possible for me to have a child. It does not look like it can happen," she says softly. An aunt to two nieces and five nephews, she says she's upbeat despite her distressing news. "It's sad, yes," she says softly, "but at the moment it's not a big deal in my life. Right now I'm not desperate to have a child, but ask me the same question in 10 years."

A successful dancing career

In addition to appearing in over 500 XXX features and winning five AVN Awards, Nina has pursued a successful dancing career; directed the popular Nina Hartley's Guide series for Adam & Eve Productions; co-created (with Sharon Mitchell) an orientation tape that's a must-see for incoming porn actresses; been an invited guest at numerous sexuality symposia and on various radio and TV talk shows; and even snagged a key role in the John Holmes-inspired mainstream film, Boogie Nights.

Nina in AIDS concern
Nina Hartley was attending San Francisco State University and dancing in clubs when she was approached by producer Juliet Anderson in March 1984. She merrily made the leap into hardcore, debuting in 84's 'Educating Nina' at the age of 19.
Nina in AIDS concern

She wants to talk about sexuality and appeal to teens to refrain from sexual intercourse until they've at least left high school. Hartley, who's tested monthly for HIV and has never contracted anything more serious than pink eye, says teens must protect themselves against AIDS and unwanted pregnancies. "I did not lose my virginity until I was 18. Sexual intercourse for high scholars is inappropriate and foolish. Death and babies are really big deals," she emphasizes.
