Instead of hanging her head, Traci immediately enrolled in a legitimate acting school and announced to the world that she had quit the porno business and planned on becoming a mainstream Hollywood actress. At first, all the skeptics dissed her. How could such a cheap and sleazy slut who knew more about snorting lines than memorizing them ever hope to become a bona-fide Hollywood star? Traci Lords, however, was totally undaunted. Hadn't she defied all odds by dropping out of school at 15 and becoming the highest paid porno star in history? Determined to succeed, Traci took singing and dancing lessons and enrolled in acting and ballet classes at the prestigious Lee Strasberg Institute. In 1988, while still attending classes, Traci secured her first legitimate acting job when she starred in the popular sci-fi feature Earth. Since then, Traci has not only become a mainstay in Hollywood, she's also received rave reviews for many of her performances, like the highly acclaimed and hilarious movie The Nutt House.Television’s Sc-Fi HeroineLords is quickly gaining a reputation as television's sci-fi heroine, having co-starred on NBC's Profiler as well as First Wave. She was banned for underage
Before the age of eighteen, the federal authorities discovered she was underage, and arrested the owners of her movie agency and X-citement Video. Shops were forced to pull all her tapes and magazines from their shelves and dump them. As a minor, Lords could not herself be charged. The government was more interested in clobbering the porn industry and the Lords case gave the perfect excuse.

With an abusive home life and an abortion as childhood memories, Lords ran away from home to live with a forty-something boyfriend when she was 15. Borrowing the birth certificate of a friend’s sister, she faked her way into the porn industry. Racking up dozens of film appearances, she also modeled for adult magazines, including Penthouse. 
Lords has also made quite a name for her on the silver screen. She co-stars in two feature films coming this winter, Chump Change and City of Masks. Her critically acclaimed turn as a vampire in the hit sci-fi/horror/action film Blade, starring Wesley Snipes, was a revelation of Lords' versatility. At 18, she began studying at the famed Strasberg Institute and was soon cast in her first feature film, Roger Corman's sci-fi cult hit, Not of This Earth.
