Her debut album Whitney Houston hit number one on the album charts. It eventually sold over 13-million copies, making it the best-selling debut ever by a female artist. Whitney has also proven her talent as an actress as well: The Bodyguard featuring Whitney in her first motion picture role, co-starring with Oscar-winning actor-director Kevin Costner, broke box office records worldwide. Houston is a sort of social activist too. In 1989, Whitney formed The Whitney Houston Foundation For Children, Inc., a non-profit organization, whose work is to assist with a variety of children's issues. Inspiring Patriotism
While choosing new tunes for her upcoming album, one of Whitney Houston's old hits inspired some feelings of patriotism. According to her label, Houston, who had been in the process of picking songs for the LP with Arista CEO L.A.
